The 411 On Getting A Student Debt Consolidation Loan

Written on June 9th, 2010 by adminno shouts

Rising tuition fees have given rise to students having to take student loans. However, these high student loans give a high impact on the day to day lives of the students. This gives rise to difficult financial situations for the student during and after their studies. This is the reason students turn to student debt consolidation loan to rid themselves of the burden of the student loans.

Student debt consolidation loan means having the multiple student loans replaced with a single loan with a lower monthly payment scheme to be paid over a longer repayment period. Though a student debt consolidation loan is beneficial, it is important to know its pros and cons before signing up for one. The huge students loans have an impact on your future decisions and on your credit history. So make it a point to have your student loan debt not exceed 8% of your income to get a good credit history.

There are many types of student loans, but the most common student loans are the private and federal loans. It is not advisable to go in for student debt consolidation loan by mixing these two loans together. Instead, it is better to consolidate the federal student loans and then the private loans, separately. This is because when consolidating both these kinds of loans, the federal loan benefits will all be lost.

For one to be eligible for consolidating his/her student loans, it is important that the person is no longer enrolled in a school. The person should also be repaying the debt or at least be in the grace period of the loan. Through student debt consolidation loan, instead of making multiple payments to all your lenders, there is only one debt consolidation company to whom you have to make your payments. It is the job of this company to pay off your lenders. Interest rates are lowered as the debt consolidation is a second mortgage, which has lower interest rates. Lower interest rates lead to lower monthly payments. And with only one payment, the monthly installment will be lower too. As you only have to pay a single person, all clarifications can be made through only one person instead of approaching all your lenders.

All things have their share of good things and bad points. There is always a chance of falling into more debt with student debt consolidation loan. This is because there is only one payment to be made, with more money remaining at the end of the month. This may prompt you to use your credit cards and spend money again. Student debt consolidation programs take a long time to cover, so you will be spending a good number of years repaying the loan. Moreover, though the interest rate of the student debt consolidation loan is low, over the long loan period, you will actually be spending more than you would have spent if you had retained the individual loans.

As consolidation loans are secured loans, you stand a chance of losing whatever you keep as security if you dont repay the loan. So it can be seen that though student debt consolidation loan is beneficial, it also has its drawbacks. It is up to the individual to decide whether to opt for student debt consolidation loan or not.

Some Tips To Ensure Success In Your Debt Consolidation Loan

Some Tips To Ensure Success In Your Debt Consolidation Loan

A debt consolidation loan may just be the answer to all your financial problems. Read on for some tips to make sure you succeed with consolidating your debts.

You may well know that getting debt consolidation loan has its own advantages and disadvantages. Here are some tips to help you succeed in consolidating:

- Do your research. While searching for debt consolidation companies and their terms can be most convenient online, make sure that you also check for those based offline near your area. You need to find a good one, so widen your options so you can choose only the best.

- Know whether a debt consolidation loan is best for you. Consolidating is best in these cases: when you have more than five credit cards to pay off per month; if you are paying high rates for a number of debts; or if you just find your debts already too unmanageable for comfort.

- Know the risks involved. Be sure that you are fully aware of the consequences that a debt consolidation loan may bring. This can include longer payment terms and a fall sense of security which may lead you to begin your spending spree once more. Consolidation is generally not advisable if you already have consolidated in the past.

- Understand the debt consolidation market. You should have a fairly good idea about the goings on in the consolidation market, which includes current interest rates, reviews on the top companies offering consolidation, and so on. This can help you hunt for good deals and will help you choose a reputable lender.

- Choose your debt consolidation company very wisely. Remember that there are a few consolidation scams that can be found online. Try to choose from three to five companies, ask them as much information as you can, and do your own research to make sure that you are dealing with a trustworthy lender. Also, check on their fees and charges to make sure that they are reasonable.

- Recognize good debts from the bad. Student loans or home mortgage loans are definitely not bad debts as their purpose is for self-development. They are tax deductible as well. Credit card debts due to money spent on shopping, and the likes are considered bad debts. Avoid the bad ones as much as you can from here onwards.

- Get some professional financial advice and listen to them. There are debt counselors available both online and offline. They can help you create a good debt management plan that can easily solve your financial dilemma. Their services are usually free of charge as long as you consolidate with the company they are part of.

- Never sign documents without reading them. Never allow a lender to force you to sign immediately without giving you the chance to read all the contents written on it. Remember that where finances are concerned, it is very important that you understand everything. You might just be signing a document that gives up your right to your home!

- Choose your debt consolidation loan carefully. If you shop around for consolidation loans, you may find yourself overwhelmed with the differences in rates, terms and conditions. Make sure that you do not only choose based on the rate. Try to weigh one from the other based on a holistic and comprehensive point of view.

First of all, a nonprofit debt consolidation company is simply one that takes out all of your different debts and combines them into one, and will keep track of paying off your creditors for you. This task is the same as a for profit debt consolidation loan company; the only difference is that non profits dont make money from it. Of course, there are more than simply nonprofit debt consolidation companies from which you can choose from.

While nonprofit companies certainly have their advantages, you don’t want to limit your choices to them, or you may miss out on a good deal. Check the Internet and other sources to find out which company would be best for you.

The Internet has an abundance of information on to just about any topic you want at the click of a button, and debt consolidation is no exception. Simply, find out which debt consolidation loan company has the lowest interest rate for your specific situation, give them a call, and while doing so, evaluate their customer service.

Their customer service might even be more important than the price you pay, because without this, dealing with them will be a very frustrating event. Also, evaluate the other services they offer, such as debt counseling; often times, these debt consolidation companies will counsel you as to how to break free from your debt and get on the road to financial freedom.

Therefore, their additional services are another important consideration to take into account before you opt to go with any company. Ask any friends or family members you know of whove used the company about their customer service and other services they offer, and also read reviews of current and past customers on the internet. This way, you can get a good idea for how well a company treats its customers before shelling out the money beforehand.

Of course, the lowest interest rate will not be the only or even the best company to choose from, but it’s a great starting point. One more important piece of advice; as much as possible, try not to focus on getting out of debt, but ultimately on achieving financial freedom. Keep focusing on what your life would be like if you were financially free, and this will motivate you to make it happen.

Write down your goals and put them in an area you can see them often. Follow these important tips, and whether or not you choose to go to non profit debt consolidation loan company or not, you’ll find the right one for you.

Do You Need Financial Help To Help With Monthly Bills?

Written on January 31st, 2010 by adminno shouts

Do You Need Financial Help To Help With Monthly Bills?

Debt consolidation can offer you relief from the day-to-day struggles faced by many people who have more debt than their income can support. If you are facing financial ruin, or have creditors calling you to make your payments, you need to look into other ways to get your debts in order and find more manageable monthly repayments.

You may have heard others talking about debt consolidation and you may even be considering it yourself. Lets take a look at some of the benefits that a debt consolidation loan has to offer and how this can help you, the consumer.

What Is Debt Consolidation?

When you have multiple debts from different institutions, lending companies and so on, you will no doubt be paying huge amounts of interest on these. Coupled with large monthly repayments, it is nearly impossible for you to pay off your debts, no matter how much of your hard earned money you are pouring into them.

In order to pay your debts, you need to level the playing field by lowering your monthly spending on these. The problem is that, at the current interest rates that you are likely to be paying, it is impossible to lower your repayments and still pay off the principal.

Debt consolidation basically takes all of your debts, such as unsecured loans, student debts, your mortgage, your car repayments, credit or store cards, or basically any money that you owe, pays them off and leaves you with one loan and one set of monthly repayments. With only one set of repayments to make each month, you have much more control over your finances.

But the great thing about it is that, often, you can obtain a much lower interest rate on these debts. This means that you pay less money, as well as pay off more of the principal of your loan each month, giving you more breathing space.

Often, you are able to get a much lower interest rate from a debt consolidation company if you have some sort of collateral, such as your home or a car. By changing your debts to a secured loan, the bank sees you as a safer risk and will reward you for it with lower interest rates. Just make sure that you understand that once you secure a loan, because you are giving the lending institution the right to foreclose on your collateral if you stop making payments.

There are also non-secured consolidation loans available, and although they may have a lower amount of interest that you are already paying, they will still be higher than if you had collateral to secure your consolidation debt loan with.

What Are The Benefits Of Debt Consolidation?

-Lower the amount of interest being paid every month. If you shop around and find a good lending institution willing to provide you with the money to pay off your debts, they will often offer you a much lower interest rate than what you are paying on your already existing debts, especially ones with much higher interest rates.

-Only one payment means more savings. Since there is only one set of monthly repayments to make with a consolidation loan, you can take the loan over a number of years to make your repayments smaller and more manageable. This can give you some extra money each week in your pocket, rather than it going in on high interest repayments.

-Stop harassing phone calls from debtors. No more harassing calls from creditors screaming for you to make your repayments when you dont have the money is one of the most enticing benefits of taking out a debt consolidation loan. Once you pay off your creditors, you will only be dealing with one company. Your repayments will be more affordable, making you more likely to keep up to date with your repayments.

-Stop late fees and over the limit fees. There is nothing worse than trying to make payments on your outstanding debts only to find that all of the money that you have paid has gone on late fees and over the limit fees, leaving you in the same boat that you were in before making a payment. When this happens, it seems as though you are wasting your time.

With debt consolidation, you start off with a clean slate, which means no more late or over limit fees, giving you the opportunity to start paying the principal of what you owe again, rather than fees designed to rob you.

-Raise your credit score or start repairing it. You credit score is vital to getting anywhere in life. Without a good score you are unlikely to get loans, credit cards, or financing when you need it. When you do get a loan with a bad credit score, you are often given the highest interest rates allowable, making it nearly impossible to ever pay back. By consolidating your debts and being responsible with your repayments, you can begin repairing any damage done to your credit score, bringing you back to a credit-worthy customer.

You may find it helpful to speak to a debt counselor who can help you make a budget and educate you on how to use money wisely. There are many credit counselors available and many of them offer their services at a very cheap rate, or for no cost at all.

Don’t forget that if you are securing your loan with collateral, such as the family home or vehicle, make sure that you budget carefully and can afford to make your monthly repayments on time.

Consolidating your debts, in particular, credit card debt consolidation, is well worth looking into if you are in need of changing your financial situation for the better. Just make sure that when you are looking for a debt consolidation loan, you are serious about repaying your debts and vow to stay away from the lure of getting into even more debt.

Debt Consolidation Loans Primer

Written on January 26th, 2010 by adminno shouts

A debt consolidation loan is a loan that is taken out to pay off existing debts. What this loan essentially does is take all the debt a persons owes and consolidate it into one single payment. There are many choices in debt consolidation loans. The type of debt consolidation loan a person chooses basically is determined by their situation.

If a person owns their home they can take out a loan on their home equity for debt consolidation purposes. This is probably the easiest option. The banks like that they get collateral for the loan and are likely to loan the money easily. However, the risk is that should the borrower not pay the loan their home is at risk for being seized and sold to pay the debt.

Another type of debt consolidation loan is an unsecured personal loan. This option is not going to be the easiest. A person should have fairly good credit to get this type of loan. Lenders will see this as a high risk loan and so the interest rates could be rather high.

If a borrower chooses this option they need to be very careful that the new interest rates do not make the payment too high. They do not want to end up paying more per month then they would to simply pay each individual debt.

The last option is going through a debt consolidation company. These companies will negotiate with the lenders to reduce the amount due or reduce the payments that want each month. The debt consolidation company then assumes the responsibility for your debts getting paid.

The borrower then pays the company to pay the debts off. These companies charge fees for their services. Again, it is wise to make sure that in the end using a company like this is not going to be more expensive then simply paying the debts off individually.

Debt consolidation loans should always lessen the burden of debt. If consolidating ends up costing more than the actual debts then it really is not worth it. However, if consolidating is the only way to keep debts under control then a little extra cost would be worth saving a future bad credit score.

A person should really take everything into consideration to ensure they are doing the right thing by choosing a debt consolidation loan. They should not ump into it but rather take their time and make sure they figure out all options and choose the one that is the nest for them.

Debt consolidation can be a great way to keep your debt from causing problems with your credit, but it should not cause further issues so care should be taken to make sure that it handled in the best way possible.

Depending on your personal situation it might be advisable to seek some impartial advice. There are many options available to you, each will carry its own benefits and negatives.

For example if you are a homeowner with equity in your property and in employment, and your debts consist of credit cards, personal loans and alike then a secured loan could be fastest and cheapest way to clear your debts off.

However if you are a non homeowner on low income and have a large number of credit card debts and alike then you may need to seek bankruptcy or an Individual Voluntary Arrangement (IVA). But these are big decisions to make and it is hard to choose the right option until you fully understand the mechanics of each one.

Debt Restructuring Helping You Gain Control Of Finances

Written on January 20th, 2010 by adminno shouts

Restructuring your debt will help you gain control of your finances once again. You can consolidate payments into more manageable amounts at a lower rate. Or you can also turn to third parties to help you deal with your creditors.

Taking Advantage Of Debt Consolidation

Using a debt consolidation loan will help you take charge of your monthly payments once more. Disposing of your high interest credit cards for a low interest home equity or personal loan can easily cut your rates in half.

By restructuring your debt with a new loan, you can also rearrange the payment structure. So you might decide to retire your debt with a small, easy to manage monthly payment over several years. Or you can opt for a short loan period with larger payments to quickly improve your debt ratio.

Once you have consolidated your bills with a new loan and retired old accounts, your credit score will have a minimal impact. And with regular payments, it will quickly improve.

When Others Can Help Your Finances

In some cases, you might want to turn to a company to help you regain control of your debt. A debt consolidation company can manage your short term accounts and lower your rates on credit card accounts, helping you to stay out of bankruptcy.

By turning over control to a third party, you save peace of mind and money. But your credit score will have a temporary decline as creditors place holds on new credit applications. For at least a year, they want to see that you will indeed be making regular payments.

If you just need some advice, a credit counselor can help you develop a budget with short and long term goals. They may also refer you to a debt consolidation company or other financial services. With their training, they can help you see your finances more clearly.

Check Before You Sign

Before you sign any contract, make sure you check out several companies before settling on one. Ask for the cost and compare it to others. Fortunately, the internet saves time when shopping for serves. In less than an hour, you can be on your way to better finances with a reliable company.

Debt Consolidation Loans – How To Find The Best Lender

Written on January 18th, 2010 by adminno shouts

Debt Consolidation Loans – How To Find The Best Lender

Life can get extremely complex when you have multiple debts. Not only do you have to find the money to make the monthly repayments, you have to keep track of who needs paid, how much and when.

Eventually you forget to make one of the repayments on time. So not only do you have to pay additional interest charges, a black mark gets added to your credit rating, which only encourages your lenders to demand an even higher rate of interest.

If that sounds familiar, it may be time to consider consolidating your debts.

If you’ve never heard about debt consolidation before it’s the situation where someone with multiple loans (often at a high rate of interest) borrows enough from one lender to repay their collection of debts. This has the effect of transforming multiple loans into one combined or consolidated debt. And due to the fact that they’re borrowing a larger sum, the borrower often manages to achieve a lower rate of interest, which helps them to save money and repay their debts in a shorter period of time.

And as an added benefit, one larger combined loan makes it much easier to keep track of monthly debt repayments.

But this is where we run into the first difficulty…who do you trust?

Many debt consolidation lenders are only keen to get your business so they can make profit from lending you the most amount of money over the longest period of time. In fact, if you select the wrong debt consolidation company, their advice could make your financial situation much, much worse.

So to get the most from debt consolidation it’s vital to find a professional company that is both trustworthy and reliable.

Which Type Of Service Do You Need?

The first step is to decide upon the type of consolidation service that you want. There are two main services available. The first type provides you with a loan that is sufficient to repay all of your existing debts. The second type of service combines debt consolidation with an element of debt management. Your chosen company pays off all your debts, then it’s up to you to keep making payments to them until your debts are repaid.

If you feel that you need additional help with your financial problems, a service that includes debt counseling will dramatically increase your chances of getting out of debt and staying out of debt.

Create A Shortlist

Once you’ve decided which route to take, the next step is to draw up a shortlist of debt consolidation services. One of the best ways to find a reliable service is to follow the recommendation of someone who has already dealt with a debt consolidation company.

Get Recommendations

But if you don’t know anyone who can recommend an appropriate service, or you don’t want to involve your friends in the matter, the best option is to use the internet. Look round various debt forums where people discuss debt consolidation issues. Ask people which services they have used, whether they would recommend them and what to expect regarding the level of the advice, interest rates and customer service provided.

Make a note of any services that are mentioned a number of times and search the internet for the company website. See if you can get the name and address of who to contact. Keep searching until you have the names of three or four companies with a good reputation in your area.

Make Contact

Next, contact each of the companies in turn and ask various preliminary questions. This will help you to gauge the level of customer service offered. It’s a good sign if loan providers offer a free debt consolidation quote. Collect as many of the quotes as you can, but bear in mind that the lowest quote is not necessarily always the best. Other issues like customer service, reliability, integrity and gut feeling are just as important as the interest rate on offer. Reputable companies will never charge you for making an inquiry.

It also goes without saying that if you get a bad feeling about any company, move on until you find a service that you are comfortable with.

The Better Business Bureau

Finally, contact the Better Business Bureau (BBB) and investigate the history of the companies on your shortlist. Have any complaints been filed against them?

Making the final choice on which debt consolidation service to use is not an easy decision. But once you make the right choice it will make your financial situation simpler, allowing you to focus on saving money, increasing your income and systematically destroying your debts.

Debt Consolidation Loans: Eliminating Confusions When Paying Your Bills

Written on January 17th, 2010 by adminno shouts

If you have been having trouble tracking down your credit card bills, youd better consolidate all your debts into one account. There are many financial companies all over the country that are offering debt consolidation loans to its clients for lower interest rates. Not only will you have less trouble tracking down which credit card bill is due on what date, you will also be able to enjoy lower interest on your debt consolidations loans. In addition, working with a company such as a debt consolidation company can help you lower your interest rates and monthly payments to each creditor. This can help you pay off your debt quicker.

Getting Debt Consolidation Loans

When getting debt consolidations loans, make sure that you choose a bank that can give you the best terms and conditions. Try to shop around first and find the bank that can best answer your needs before you start processing your debt consolidations loans application. Do not just say yes to the first bank that offers to bail you out of your financial mess.

When applying for debt consolidation loans, make sure that you know which loans you want consolidated. Note that you may have some debts that have considerably lower interest compared to what the bank handling your debt consolidation has to offer. In this case, you might want to exclude that debt from the consolidation. There is really no point of paying more interest if you can have less. Besides, if you only have to keep tab of a two or three separate debt payments every month, that should be very hard to track down.

On the other hand, if you are planning to keep two or three of your credit cards, you need to closely evaluate which one of these credits cards you want to keep before you to a bank or any financial institution and as for debt consolidation loans. Find out which of your credit cards have higher interest than the others and discard these first. Note that credit cards that have higher interest rates are not favorable to you. The higher the interest rates, the more expensive it will be to keep that credit card.

Credits cards with higher outstanding balances should be included in the debt consolidation. It doesnt matter if you intend to keep that credit card, as long as the outstanding balance is big and you are having problems paying your monthly bills, you should ask the bank that is handling your debt consolidation to pay off your balance in that card. Note that just because you included the outstanding balance of this credit card in your debt consolidation loan doesnt mean that you have to give up the card. You can still keep that card. Just make sure that the next time you start using your credit cards you will be more responsible and wise in your spending. There is really no point of overburdening yourself with so many debts. Of course, if you think you will be tempted again, it is best to cut all credit cards up right away.
